「妳不能放假！」「妳下午不能休息！」，還有「妳不能在我家裡祈禱！」這是我到僱主家時，我的老闆下的一些禁令。
然而，這些規定與勞工、印尼仲介公司和台灣仲介公司三方，在我們赴台之前簽的約相牴觸。台灣仲介公司說他們同意雇主的規定，而我作為一名勞工，既不清楚台灣的勞動法令，又從沒機會申訴，卻永遠只能摸摸鼻子說「是。」移工在台灣面臨許多問題，族繁不及備載，但休假的確是最現實的一個問題。
一開始我聽到，有移工只因為無法按時休假而決定逃跑或終止契約，還覺得納悶，休假真的有那麼重要嗎？後來我體會到，休假非常重要，而且根據法規，是每個移工都享有的權利。
實際上，並不是所有移工都能定時休假。台灣勞動組織為移工爭取的權利當中，最重要的就是宗教自由和休假的權利，更重要的，是要讓印尼政府認知到，光是白紙黑字規定沒用，要確認移工真的有休假。如果雇主和工人雙方，對於規則有清楚認知，不會有人感到吃虧，還是能保持和氣。仲介公司不該只從移工身上撈仲介費，也應努力為移工爭取權益。最辛苦的是在非正規部門的移工，他們平常很少有與外界互動的機會，一個月能休假一天都已經很難得。
此外，休假不僅讓移工身體得到休息，還可以從繁忙的工作暫時抽身，充實靈魂。在休假日，移工可以從事正向活動，例如參加文學組織、社福組織，宗教組織等，或參加由印尼勞工社群舉辦的實用訓練課程。原本可能充滿負面能量的移工，在休假之後可以得到修復。
像我一樣沒有休假的移工，也不要太過悲觀。我們應該盡量找時間做對未來有用的活動，例如閱讀以充實知識，以寫作來排遣百無聊賴，或是加入網上社群。並且永不停止祈禱，要有耐心，並確知雖然我們沒有得到休假，我們還是可以努力充實自己，將來為我們自己和其他人都有用。
一定要記住，無論在任何國家，成為移工都不容易，成功更非一蹴可幾。作為一位在國外工作的勞工，除了希望獲取較高的薪水，我們必須要做好心理準備面對高風險，有時甚至是生命危險。
我們的意志一定要堅定，從離開母國的那一刻開始，一直到抵達台灣。「我既然來了，一定要成功」的精神，應該存在每個人的心中。當然我們應該也要清楚重要的資訊，例如如何保護自己，並且隨時掌握重要的電話號碼。

It's Important to get the Day-Off
" You can't holiday!" " You can't rest at the afternoon!" And " you can't pray in our home!" That's some bans that my employer said when I arrived at their house.
And the statements are contradiction with a agreement work that signed by worker, Indonesian agency and Taiwan agency before we go to the Taiwan. Taiwan agency said agree with my employer statements. And I as a worker that unknown the world of work in Taiwan and never give chance to make a pleading only can said " Yes". And I think is one of some reality problems that many faced by migrant workers besides the others important problem that can't explained one by one in here.
Its funny things when I heard that there are migrant workers are willing to run or decided to finish contract just because they not get the schedule of day-off. Its important getting the day-off ? The day-off is a important thing that should be gotten and that is right for every migrant worker in accordance with the rules of migrant workers.
But the reality not all of the migrant workers get the day-off schedule. Freedom of religion and right to get the day-off for every migrant workers are two of the many agenda that have to fight by labour organizations in Taiwan, especially for Indonesian goverment to make realization at the practice and just not black on white statement. The rules of the two parties (Employer and Worker) that realization at the practice will reach favorable atmosphere between each others and no one of the parties feel harmed. And be the package message for the agency so don't just scoop up profits from the workers but also to fight for their right as well as being protective of the main. The routine of day-work especially at informal sector are rarely to interract with the outside world to get day-off once a month are the prices things.
Besides, it can be relaxation of the body it also be treatment for the soul so that spared from the stress caused by thickly activity. The day-off for migrant workers will be beneficial if filled with a positive activities such as join an literary organization , humanitarian organization, religion organization etc, or attending the useful event like productive training that many held by Indonesian worker community. And otherwise the day-off will be a boomerang for ourself when filled by negative things.
For those of us who's not get the day-off don't ever pessimistic. Filled days with positive activities that can be useful for the future such as reading to enrich the knowledges, write to released a bored, join with the positive online community. Keep pray, be patient and be sure that although not get the day-off we can create and useful for ourself and others later.
Always remember that become a foreigner workers in other country isn't a easily task and instantly reach a success. As a formal worker, working out in other country besides promising a big salary, we must have to ready with high risks anyway and in fact sometimes our lives be at stake.
From the firm intentions until through phase by phase and we can arrived at the Taiwan, " I come and I must win" that's spirit should be in every each others to realized the dreams. With no override the important things like a how to protect ourself, and known about the important address or the telephone number that could give protection for us.
